Kia K5

TVC/OLV/”Turning The Lights On”

If you type the phrase “The sedan is—” into Google, it will finish the thought with a single word. “Dead”. Last year Ford announced it would no longer make sedans. Other automakers followed suit. KIa had the radical thought that sedans weren’t so much dead, as sleepy. So they designed a sexy GT dubbed the K5.

TVC/OLV/”Flat Spin”

“Corkscrew” jumps had been done back in the 70’s. What had never, ever been done was a flat-spin, 360 degree jump. Stunt coordinators had talked about it for years. But never actually pulled it off. Once we heard that, we knew we had to try. We had only two K5’s for the jump. The first one landed on it’s roof and crumpled into an unrecognizable lump of steel. Leaving us just one K5 to get it right. Here’s what happened—

TVC/OLV/”Yawn Fest”

We constructed a 15 minute live stunt that we streamed over social. The design of the stunt was ostensibly quite simple. Have two K5s jump, pass mid-air over a large gap. In the gap they jump over, have a third car pull a “180” at the exact moment the other two cars are passing overhead. As your time is no doubt valuable, this is the :30 broadcast version.

TVC/OLV/”Triple Threat” Live event/Social

And here is the total live event in all its glory. Just in case you’ve got 15 minutes to burn.

OLV/TVC/”Stunt Wars”

We had two Hollywood-stunt drivers slug it out on an indoor slalom course.

“Dead to Live”/Case Study

Here’s the whole campaign in under two minutes.
